UPDATE FROM THE
OHIO
CAMPAIGN TO PROTECT MARRIAGE
September
17, 2004
This
will be the last chance to collect signatures for the Ohio Marriage Amendment.
Please continue to collect through this weekend and mail all petitions to the
campaign office on Monday, September 20.
Thank
you again from the Ohio Campaign to Protect Marriage. Your concern and hard work
will not go unnoticed.
September
19 is Protect Marriage Sunday!
Citizens
for Community Values joins Focus
on the Family, Family
Research Council, American
Family Association and numerous other
pro-family organizations in encouraging all
churches and communities to set aside Sunday,
September 19, 2004 as Protect Marriage
Sunday.
WHY:
Marriage, as the union of one man and one
woman, is a truth established by God.
It therefore is not subject to change –
by man, by law, by any force. Throughout the history of civilization the sacred institution
of marriage and the resulting natural or adopted
family have been the foundation of every lasting
society.
In
the last few years, a very small segment of our
population (1%-3%), aided by activist judges,
have set out to deny the truth of marriage and
attempt to redefine it by “expanding”
marriage to include any combination of
“loving” people, including two members of
the same sex.
WHAT:
Please use Protect Marriage Sunday
to remind everyone in your church to take
measures to protect the truth of marriage by
embedding it in our foundational documents –
our state and federal constitutions.
Steps
that you can take:
1.
Encourage
your pastor to speak on the sanctity of
marriage as God’s only plan for human
sexuality.
CCV’s brochure, “A
Christian’s Response to Same Sex
Marriage,” makes an excellent
discussion guide for your Sunday School
class or small group. Call (513) 733-5775 to
order your free copies.
2.
The
ultimate solution to the protection of
marriage is a Federal Marriage Amendment
(FMA.)
During the week of September 20, the
U.S. House of Representatives will cast a
first vote on the FMA.
Encourage everyone in your circle of
influence to call their Representative to
encourage them to vote YES on this necessary
amendment.
Contact information for Representatives
and all elected officials can be found by
clicking on Project VoteSmart in the margin
or from our website at www.ccv.org.
3.
For
additional information on the Federal
Marriage Amendment, you can take part in the
third live Marriage Simulcast and Webcast.
Hear why James and Shirley Dobson,
Tony Perkins, Chuck Colson, David Barton and
others think that the protection of marriage
must be our number one priority in this
election year. For information on the
simulcast visit www.wevotevalues.com.
